1944, PRISONER OF WAR MAIL. BURMA THAI RAILWAY. Stampless. envelope endorsed 'Prisoner of War Post/Service des Prisonniers de Guerre' written by Driver Hill's parents in Putney dated 'Feb 6th 44' addressed to 'Driver Hill, British Prisoner of War, Thai Camp, Thailand' with 'Opened by Examiner 4274" censor label. The envelope has a framed hand-stamp in violet reading 'Ken'etsuzumi' with circular seal of "Kobayashi” in orange. The enclosed letter is endorsed 'N.P.T. 15.10.44' indicating when the envelope was received at Non Pladuk by Driver Wes Hill. The manuscript '6' found in pencil on some covers inclicates that Group Six was amalgamated into Group 1 at Non Pladuk. David Tett on page 63 of his excellent book dates this to December 1943 but from our correspondence the m/s ‘6' appears as early as August 43.
This Lot is under the margin tax system (§25a UStG). The VAT (MWSt) is not displayed seperate on the bill.

In april 2005 the idea to build a place where collectors, customers and investors from all over the world could meet, was realized.
Since that time both, the Mail Order House and Auction House Gärtner, have been united on 2.700 m2 in the easy accessible building owned by Christoph Gärtner.
Generous viewing and storage rooms, a private auction hall, enough parking space and an underground car park are available.
