1882 Cover from the OCCUPIED LIMA to Besançon, France via Panama and Calais, franked by two singles of CHILE 1880 5c. carmine tied by "LIMA PRINCIPAL/6 SB 82" double-ring d/s, underfranked 1c. and taxed with circled "T" and notes, bearing Calais transit cds on front, parts of reversed strikes of Lima oval handstamp and arrival cds on the reverse. Envelope roughly opened at right and slightly creased otherwise fine, signed J.-F. Brun. A VERY RARE COVER FROM THE OCCUPIED LIMA DURING THE SALPETER WAR AND BEARING CHILEAN ADHESIVES.

Since that time both, the Mail Order House and Auction House Gärtner, have been united on 2.700 m2 in the easy accessible building owned by Christoph Gärtner.
