1840 TO 1936 GREAT BRITAIN & BRITISH EMPIRE, CAT £166,000+. A chiefly used collection displayed in Volumes I & II of the SG "New Imperial" albums printed for Great Britain and the British Empire from Antigua to Zululand, in clean 'nearly new' condition. These impressive albums are well- filled, the strongest part of the collection is the Great Britain with almost every space filled including such important stamps as the 1870 ½d plate 9, 1880 2s brown, 1867-80 5s roses (plates 1 & 2), 10s grey- green & £1 brown- lilacs (these with matching perfins!) & a superb quality £5 orange (lettered "BH" showing the rarely- seen plate damage listed in this position), 1883-84 2s6d lilac on blued paper, 1884 £1 brown wmk Crowns, 1900 £1 green, 1902-11 KEVII set complete to £1 green, KGV Seahorses including 1913 £1 green, 1915 2s6d deep yellow- brown & 10s pale blue, 1918-19 spectacular set of three with choice matching cds cancels, then the 1929 £1 PUC etc, etc. The British Empire well- filled with good showings from almost every Colony or Dominion. The entire collection was catalogued by the owner with the GB stamps totalling £103,158 and the Empire totalling £63,139. These totals (list by country accompanies) include damaged items but for example the first page of Indian stamps includes three 1854 4a stamps 'cut to shape' - these alone SG catalogue at £1850 but the entire page of 32 stamps is shown with a cat value of just £981 so a substantial discount has been applied, we also spotted the North Borneo Post Due 1895-97 5c with double overprint (SG D5c, cat £900) but counted as the regular stamp at £4, or the Labuan with the cancelled to order stamps properly priced (in fact see see a £50 postally used taken as £2.50 cto!) so the catalogue price, if you expect some faults, is honest and often falls in favour of the buyer! Certainly includes many lovely stamps and ranges amongst this often very fine 'collectors collection' and we highly recommend this impressive lot which we offer intact despite many obviously expensive single items (7800+ stamps) For more images, please visit https://www.sandafayre.com/itemdetails.aspx?s=607811
