1941. Registered Air Mail envelope (back some faults) addressed to the United States bearing SG 19, 3p bright violet, SG 23, 1½a turquoise (2), SG 28, 4a turquoise, SG 29, 8a myrtle green and SG 30, 1r blue and purple and SG 31, 2r brown and purple tied by 'Experimental P.O. R.21' double ring 'Nov 22 41' with matching registration label and 'Opened by Censor' label tied by framed 'Passed/Censor/55', routed via San Francisco 'Dec 6' with Chicago arrival 'Dec 8th' on reverse. Tears, parts of flap missing. This cover was sent on the last Trans-Pacific flight by the clipper "China" which departed Singapore on November 22nd arriving San Francisco Dec 6th. Experimental PO R-21 was the 1st American Volunteer Group (The Flying Tigers). The Flying Tigers provided unofficial aid to the Chinese after the Japanese invasion of Burma. A rare item from this famous group. William Bartfing the sender was credited with downing five Japanese aircraft. Although not planned as such the last Trans-Pacific flight was flown by the clipper "China” which departed Singapore on November 30, 1941 and arrived in San Francisco on December 6th 1941.
This Lot is under the margin tax system (§25a UStG). The VAT (MWSt) is not displayed seperate on the bill.

In april 2005 the idea to build a place where collectors, customers and investors from all over the world could meet, was realized.
Since that time both, the Mail Order House and Auction House Gärtner, have been united on 2.700 m2 in the easy accessible building owned by Christoph Gärtner.
Generous viewing and storage rooms, a private auction hall, enough parking space and an underground car park are available.
