1864 Forwarded double-weight letter from Calcutta to Ferdinand Schiller in HAMBURG, Germany via Trieste, "FORWARDED BY/BORRADAILE SCHILLER & Co./CALCUTTA" (large oval handstamp in blue on reverse, recorded use only from 1864 to 1866), franked with India 1856 8a. carmine pair, 4a. black and 2a. yellow all tied by numeral "B/1", boxed "INDIA/PAID" in red, red "2" (Shilling; British ship rate to Alexandria) and "12" (Kreuzer, crossed out and "16"; Austrian charge from Alexandria to Triest and to Germany) alongside, Calcutta '23 Aug. 64' despatch cds and "HAMBURG/26 9 64" arrvial cds on the reverse. Back-flap of letter with a long tear otherwise fine.

In april 2005 the idea to build a place where collectors, customers and investors from all over the world could meet, was realized.
Since that time both, the Mail Order House and Auction House Gärtner, have been united on 2.700 m2 in the easy accessible building owned by Christoph Gärtner.
Generous viewing and storage rooms, a private auction hall, enough parking space and an underground car park are available.
