1863 Forwarded letter from Calcutta to Ferdinand Schiller in HAMBURG, Germany via Trieste, "FORWARDED BY/JOHN BORRADAILE & Co./CALCUTTA" (large oval handstamp in blue on reverse, recorded use only from 1859 to 1861), franked with India 1856 8a. carmine and 1a. brown all tied by numeral "B/1", boxed "INDIA PAID" in red, Austrian handstamp "6" (Kr.) and marks in m/s alongside, '13 AU 63' Calcutta despatch dater, Bombay '23 AU 63' transit cds and "HAMBURG/20 9/7-8M." arrvial cds on the reverse. A fine cover with 1a. inland postage and 8a. British ship rate to Alexandria.

In april 2005 the idea to build a place where collectors, customers and investors from all over the world could meet, was realized.
Since that time both, the Mail Order House and Auction House Gärtner, have been united on 2.700 m2 in the easy accessible building owned by Christoph Gärtner.
Generous viewing and storage rooms, a private auction hall, enough parking space and an underground car park are available.
