1933 HOUSTON MOUNT EVEREST FLIGHT: Cover and letter from the first flight across the Mount Everest by the RAF squadron leader Douglas Douglas-Hamilton (Lord Clydesdale), Lieut. D. McIntyre and photographer S.R. Bonnett, with the financial backing of Lady Houston. The cover (printed "RAJ DARBHANGA" on back-flap) sent to Scotland and has been franked by India 1929 Air 6a. and KGV. ½a. and 1a.(x2) all tied by two fine strikes of special "HOUSTON MOUNT EVEREST FLIGHT/PURNEA/5. APR. 33" cds, Flight cachet on back-flap, and endorsed in m/s "I certify this cover flown over Mt. Everest 3rd April 1933. ..." on front. The letter inside reads "2nd April 33, Dear James, Just a quick one in order to catch the special Mt. Everest Flight mail over the top in the morning. Cheers chaps, David.". The letter folded crosswise and seperated partially, the cover opened three sides, otherwise fine. A VERY SCARCE FLIGHT COVER, AND A KEY ITEM OF AIRMAIL.

Since that time both, the Mail Order House and Auction House Gärtner, have been united on 2.700 m2 in the easy accessible building owned by Christoph Gärtner.
