Pilar Salinas Padilla was born in Tegucigalpa on February 16, 1924 to a Spanish father, Manuel Salinas, and a Honduran mother, María de la Cruz Padilla. At the age of 19 she became blind from it without this preventing her from completing her teaching studies in Guatemala. On October 4, 1948 she founded the National School for the Blind that was named after her in Guatemala, she had already created another similar one and in 1978 the Artisanal and Industrial Rehabilitation Center for the Blind, a vocational training institution.
Clementina Suárez (Juticalpa, Olancho, 1902 - Tegucigalpa, 1991), was a nationally and internationally recognized Honduran poet, considered the "matriarch of Honduran poetry",2 promoter of the culture and art of Honduras and Central America.

A los 19 años quedó ciega sin que ello le impidiera completar los estudios de magisterio en Guatemala. El cuatro de octubre de 1948 fundó la Escuela Nacional de Ciegos que llevó su nombre en Guatemala ya había creado otra similar y en 1978 el Centro Artesanal e Industrial de Rehabilitación para el Ciego, institución de formación profesional.
