1866. Folded entire (vertical fold affecting an adhesive) written from Alexandria addressed to London bearing French 'Napoleon' Yvert 21, 10c bistre (2) and Yvert 23, 40c orange tied by 'anchor' in lozenge with adjacent French Paquebot 'Said' date stamp '27th Avril 66' (Salles 816) and framed Anglo-French accountancy 'FR/2f 55c' on face (van der Linden 1270) with framed instructional 'Affranchissement / Insuffisant', routed via Paris and Calais and rated '1/4' in m/s on arrival. Scarce item the French Paquebot 'Said' made only 9 voyages in 1866 from Egypt, the rate had fallen to 40 centimes then but this cover should have paid the triple rate.

Since that time both, the Mail Order House and Auction House Gärtner, have been united on 2.700 m2 in the easy accessible building owned by Christoph Gärtner.
Generous viewing and storage rooms, a private auction hall, enough parking space and an underground car park are available.
