"Ma femme me communique la lettre par laquelle voous lui demandez s'il est possible de naturaliser d'ici au 4 octobre et de faire voter ce jour là un protégé de vous [?] de nation et admis depuis plus de 3 ans à établir son domicile en France.
Il m'est tout à fait impossible, Madame, d'ici à quatre jours, de faire délibérer le Conseil d'Etat sur cette naturalisation. Quand bien même cela serait possible, notre nouveau compatriote ne serait pas inscrit sur les listes électorales.
Je vous serai obligé de me faire savoir si votre protégé persiste néanmoins dans la demande de naturalisation définitive qu'il m'adresse.
Ma femme, très fatiguée depuis quelques jours, vous prie d'agréer ses compliments affectueux et j'ai l'honneur d'être, Madame, votre très humble et très obéissant serviteur"
