Duinen van de Noordzee, olie op doek, van Raf Buyse (Rumbeke, 1926-2013).

89 x 79 cm / 68,5 x 58,5 cm.

Buyse Rafaël (Raf) is geboren te Rumbeke (Roeselare) in 1926 en overleed aldaar in 2013. Als zoon van een schilder groeide hij op tussen kwasten, borstels en verfpotten. Hij was leerling aan de Stedelijke Academie te Roeselare en behaalde er in 1943 de eerste prijs met grote onderscheiding in de toegepaste kunsten. Daarna volgde hij de lessen decoratief schilderen aan de Vrije Beroepsschool te Roeselare. In 1950 was hij leerling aan de Privé Hogere Schilderschool van Joseph (Jef) Van de Fackere te Brugge en kaapte er het bekwaamheidsdiploma met grootste onderscheiding in de decoratieve kunsten weg. Hij was tevens aanhanger van de Latemse School.
