bonjour cousin miwag,
i am in agreement with you. i don't like automatic sniping. i like to do it the old fashioned way, by myself. and being a vietnam veteran, i guess i am trained for it. actually i was a medic. but i give a good shot in the arm, with a hypodermic. i did visit this site and i see it is a british company like MB. and i also read through their forums, and their answers sound like 'mauvais anglaise'. and 'snippys' for currency? what the heck is that? whatever they are, they are not cheap at 50/5 euros. and you sure can use up a lot of them bidding on an item. so in the reality of the situation. is this site and service really worth the effort? i leave it to the indiscretions of our members.

As a human being I always respect the dignity other human beings. Sadly this state of being is sometimes made very difficult, particularly so by a few of the people involved with Delcampe.
Two years ago this was not the case and all the 'difficult' sellers were located on eBay.
Now this appears to be changing since eBay has realised that the buyers are as important as the sellers.
This 'revolutionary' leap in modern thought seems to have failed to penetrate 'old Europe', i.e. as yet.
A consequence of this state of affairs is that I find myself more and more reluctant to bid on Delcampe for items as it is rarely an easy transaction. French dealers often want cash and will not accept PayPal, thus it is necessary to take a trip to the bank, get the euros, send them by registered post and pray that they arrive.
The so called electronic wallet is totally unacceptable for me though I am sure that others may find it good.
Please do not say that using a snipe bidding system does not respect the sellers.
It is quite clear that the above statement this is the sort of attitude that the new President of France is attempting to change in order to move Europe from its hide-bound old ways of thinking into 'today'.
Thus as an Englishman I am forced to say:
Vive La France! Vive Le President!

bonsori cousin michel,
let me further qualify my comment, i am a democrat. if i were a french citizen, i would have not voted for sarcozy. i did not vote for bush, twice. i did vote for the democratic candidate, twice. sentiment here is now stong for the democrats and i hope this year, one will be in the white house again. and peace returned to the world.

un bonne semaine a vous.
I don't wish to talk French politics, but those who oppose sniping, please consider buyers like me who live on the opposite side of the world, and because of time zone differences often have lots they are bidding on finish in the early morning.
I have used sniping programmes in the past just for this reason. While the "bidding frenzy" element is removed by sniping, the person with the highest required bid does win, so I don't believe it's unfair.
If Delcampe doesn't like sniping, maybe they can introduce the system used by Oztion and once by Ebay, where a last minute bid extends the closing time by 30sec to allow a further response to that last-minute bid.

The last minute extension is available for sellers. I use it quite often in my auctions and it's free to Gold Members; cost is $0.06 USD for others. Don't know if it's ever helps someone 'bid the old way' or not.

Thank you - as a new member who hasn't sold here yet, I was not aware that the option existed.
But why am I not surprised? Because Delcampe is THE BEST!
