hi vic,
my friend, PN, who is currently under suspension from the forum and an expert in banknotes and coins could answer your question. but he says an image of your note would be most helpful. as with most questions on delcampe, i urge the those who ask about stamps, coins, and whatever, a picture is worth a thousand words. by the by, my daughter in law is filipino from urdanetta. love that cookin' but teachin' her how to do cajun cookin' too. she loves our hot sauce. guess i better start buying it by the gallon. grandkids too.

That's not longer currency, so you can just use it as decoration or collector's item.

hi alf,
well, guess that will disappoint vic, but i was afraid that was the case. even if it was, it probably wasn't worth much in an exchange rate. however maybe it will be worth more as a collector's item. always look at the positive side of things. :D

Hm,

the worth as collector's item is not that much different... :(

What makes me wonder is, that we seem to have a lot people buying these notes as legal currency and trying to bring them to a bank. Do we have any seller with some "funny" item descriptions...? :angryfire:

hi alf,
well, if that is one of the unfortunate consequences of buying banknotes on delcampe, it behooves sebastian and the team to make a disclaimer to protect the buyers. the same goes for any item that is sold on delcampe that could be a 'fake' or misrepresented. we have no room here for dishonesty or subtrefuge. i have warned the buyers on delcampe many times 'caveat emptor' or 'buyer beware'. this is a very well known phrase on ebay and yahoo as well. and when in doubt, ask questions, and if the answers don't add up, report the item to delcampe. this is the way to keep the site correct for all of us. if i have an item that i am unsure of, it is sold 'as is', meaning you take the risk. and i say this in my description. but for banknotes, i wish PN were back here to give us assistance. stamps i can do. and postcards are well covered by alf and others. well, back to the NFL playoffs. geaux new orleans saints. :applause: :applause: :applause:

I had a look at the auctions in here and could not find anything "tricky" around. Perhaps Vic can tell where it's from...

hi alf,
well, that's good. but i bet PN will find something we can't recognize. i have not done many searches lately so i couldn't tell you what has been selling lately. but i do know what has been sold in the past, and there have been some 'shady' deals done. this was a huge problem on ebay some years back with obvious stamp forgeries. and still is. i have addressed this matter with links to some forgery sites. even the u.s. classics are prone to reperforation, added grills, and recancellations to make them appear as rarer issues. the forgerer is a clever person and a clever marketer as well.
