1919-21 IMPORTANT NEW DISCOVERY. 1919-21 1½d green "Contingent Embarking" wmk Mult Crown CA with REVERSED "C" IN "CA" WATERMARK (SG 86 var) very finely used with Dec 1921 cds. We believe that this was as a result of the Missing "C" error being repaired by the papermakers who incidently replaced this part of the metal watermark 'Bit' the wrong way around at the very end of the Multiple Crown CA paper manufacturing run (the Script watermarks were already appearing by early 1921). It is difficult to overstate the rarity and importance of this discovery, over the years philatelists have been checking these stamps for reversed and missing watermarks and we believe that this may be the first certified example of the error. Positioned clearly away from the edges of the stamp this "AC" watermark clearly stands out amongst the surrounding correct wmks and in our opinion might be considered the most striking Colonial watermark error in existence. It is certainly the rarest stamp of Jamaica. We are not entirely sure that most philatelists would recognised the "corner creases" as per the 2018 BPA certificate but we must mention it despite being them being so light you may not be sure which corner is being referred to!
