1942 - 1943 JAPANESE OCCUPATION, FROM THE ALAN MEECH COLLECTION. A very fine accumulation arranged in 3 stock books carefully arranged with some specialist notations. We see duplicated ranges throughout with particular interest in blocks but also varieties and the myriad of shades and papers which are seen on some of these issues. Where they are a danger we see some small sections of forgeries clearly identified. Briefly (amongst much else) we see the 1941 (Jun) 1a red Seal used SG J45, 1942 1a scarlet farmer 14 used examples incl pair; 1942 (Oct) 5c on 1a scarlet Farmer SG J57 (28, 1 unused & 27 used incl pair), the 1942 surcharges on Japanese stamps include 16 genuine examples plus another 15 forgery reference examples; 1943 (Feb) 5c scarlet State Crest includes scarce perf & imperf blocks 4 (both unused & used) also a perf pair & imperf single showing a matching plate flaw at position 41, also examples on piece, used on the first day plus more SG J72 (39 genuines, also extra forgeries identified); 1943 Farmers elephant watermarked paper, laid papers incl multiples, imperfs (note 10c vertical strip 3 with original 1946 note) with pairs up to the 20c & 30c values, 5c small "c" (80+ examples incl used blocks 4, unused block 15 etc), a pair of 10c browns imperf between stamps and margin etc; the 1943 Independence Day issue with some impressive material incl the perf 11 issue with many pairs & blocks both unused & used (70+ stamps), the roulette perfs with a similar range with used blocks and interesting partially perforated (or doubly perforated) examples which includes imperfs (13 pairs, all values) and some examples selected for strong offsets on reverse; 1943 Pictorial definitives substantial mint & used ranges with many blocks beginning with the 1c red- orange SG J88 (55 used examples, incl a block of 30!) amongst so much more; 1943 Shan States issue small range of stamps & blocks to 20c including all apart from the 10c in used blocks 4, also the 10c in mint blocks 4 & 8 etc (60 stamps, cat £1200+); 1944 overprinted issue with loads of mint and used blocks etc, etc. A great fun lot for the specialist, taking the stamps simply as basic examples this collection has a catalogue value easily in excess of £15,000 (2000+ stamps) For more images, please visit https://www.sandafayre.com/itemdetails.aspx?s=639854
