Fishermen say that she is still flying above the sea, making her presence to bless and protect ships and save sea perils. According to statistics, there are 1,561 temples of Mazu all over the world. There are more than 150 million people who believe in Mazu living in over 20 countries and regions. Mazu culture study has become a comprehensive subject involving various sciences such as religions, history, sociology, folklore, ideology, and art.
