THE GROWTH OF THE TEXTILE INDUSTRY
In 1746, the textile industry was introduced to Mulhouse. In 1885, Kullmann et Cie undertook the construction of the Wittenheim Spinning and Weaving Mills. The factory opened its doors in 1888, many employees from Wittenheim and neighboring towns found employment. To the east of the factory buildings, a small workers' housing estate soon rose: four houses with two apartments for the supervisory staff. The town then experienced a real demographic boom. The Kullmann factory will be responsible for a 63% population gain. The same year, the Mulhouse-Wittenheim tram line was inaugurated. In 1891 the "Altbau" of the Kullmann factory opened its doors with 20,800 spindles and 700 looms. The factory expanded in 1900 with the construction of the "Neubau". The factory now has 60,000 spindles and 890 workers are employed in this company.

In 1885, we entered the industrial era by the introduction of "FILATURES & TISSAGES DE WITTENHEIM "Spinning and Weaving Wittenheim: Settlements Kullmann and Co. Then came the drilling of wells and Prince Eugene of Theodore, who came to transform our region in large industrial mining town.

Subject Subject: The construction, acquisition, operation, leasing, rental, transfer of all spinning and weaving mills and in particular the operation of a spinning and weaving establishment located in Wittenheim as well as all commercial operations , industrial, financial, securities and real estate that may be directly or indirectly linked to these industries.

Introduction (constitution) Société anonyme française, constituée en 1924, pour reprendre la suite de la firme Kullmann et Cie, expirant le 28 octobre 1995.
Objet Objet : La construction, l’acquisition, l’exploitation, la prise en bail, la location, la cession de toutes filatures et tissages et notamment l’exploitation d’un établissement de filature et tissage sis à Wittenheim ainsi que toutes opérations commerciales, industrielles, financières, mobilières et immobilières pouvant se rattacher directement ou indirectement à ces industries.
