IF YOU THINK YOU ALREADY HAVE THESE, LOOK AT THE DATE OF YOUR STAMPS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE STAMPS, BECAUSE THESE TWO STAMPS HAVE NO DATE AT THE BOTTOM! Your Tonga marine life sets are not complete without these two which have no date at the bottom. Cat. value is $33.

In 1984 Tonga issued a set of self-adhesive marine life stamps (plus a set of self-adhesive officials). Supplies of these self-adhesive stamps lasted for about three years, but when stocks started to diminish, it was decided to print more stamps for the marine life series, but this time it was thought it would be good to issue non-self-adhesive stamps - just ordinary normal perforated lick and stick stamps with gum. So around 1987 the printers were instructed to do an experiment and REPRINT the 10s shell stamp and the 32s fish stamp from the same plates as were used in 1984, but this time to use normal perforated and gummed paper.

The printers did this, and a very small experimental number of these two stamps were reprinted on normal paper WITH NO DATE AT THE BOTTOM. Then as you will probably be aware in 1988 the printers printed a full set of stamps all on normal perforated and gummed paper BUT ALL OF THIS NEW SET showed dates of 1988 or 1989 at the bottom. ONLY THE TWO EXPERIMENTAL STAMPS done in 1987 never had any date at the bottom.

Stanley Gibbons catalogue recognizes the scarcity of these stamps and catalogues them at around $33. Gibbons catalogue numbers are 976a and 976b. Scott catalogue does not appear to list these two stamps. P

Australia Post SMALL international registration envelope - 10.00 euros - used for smaller items and smaller covers.

Australia Post LARGE international registration envelope - 16.00 euros - used for larger items and larger covers. NOTE there is no tracking with registered letters. Tracking costs a little bit more.

On certain occasions if large total is purchased, tracking may be required and I will advise the cost - currently it is 21.00 euros

NOTE - IMPORTANT - WHEN REGISTRATION IS COMPULSORY

Registration fee MUST be paid when:-

1. Total cost of items purchased is over 60 euros.
