Pour les amoureux de gothique et de Kate Beckinsale, le clippeur Len Wiseman, compagnon de la belle, a concocté en 2003 ce conte fantastique, shakespearien et musclé, peuplé de vampires et de loups-garous. A découvrir dans un DVD simple mais fracassant, agrémenté d'un commentaire audio du réalisateur et des scénaristes.

La guerre entre deux races immortelles, les vampires et les lycans (proche des loups-garous), fait rage depuis plusieurs centaines d'années, à l'insu des humains. Dans le clan des vampires, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) s'impose comme une guerrière redoutable et accomplie. L'enquête sur un humain (Scott Speedman, insipide), mystérieusement impliqué dans le conflit, va faire ressurgir la part d'humanité de la belle tueuse...
